Job summary

The City of Cleveland is seeking a full-time Lineman in the 2004 - CPP department to perform construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution and sub-transmission lines up to 15,000 volts.

The role requires directive supervision and hands-on field work with hot line tools.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must have completed an Electrical Lineman program or a four-year Apprenticeship Program.
• Two years of full time paid experience as a High Tension Lineman or equivalent is required.
• A valid State of Ohio Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement is required.
• Overtime may be required during emergencies and for emergency call outs.
• Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds

Responsibilities

• Builds and maintains overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines up to and including 15 KV using "hot" line tools according to industry standards.
• Clears hazards and restores service as assigned.
• Repairs and maintains constant current regulators, fuse and line disconnects, air brake switches, and reclosures in the field.
• Transfers circuit loads by making cuts and ties, isolating and installing bypass facilities for underground services, switching overhead and underground transmission and distribution on circuits, and switching customers' vault service.
• Changes distribution transformers under emergency conditions.
• Phases out and banks multi-phase transformers.
• Mades proper connections.
• Phases out feeders.
• Repairs and maintainstransmission switches and lighting protective equipment in the field, up to 15,000 volts.
• Directs and trains employeesassigned to him/her.
• Performs other similar and less skilled work.
• Performs the duties of a Lineman.

Examples of Duties

Under directive supervision and occasionally under general directive supervision, in addition to performing all the duties of a Lineman, engages in any of the work on construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution and sub transmission areas which may be energized up to and including 15,000 volts. Carries through assignments.
