Job summary

Kids for the Future seeks an experienced A-Lineman - Journeyman to construct, maintain, and repair electrical power systems. You will ensure safe, reliable power delivery, work independently and in teams, and mentor apprentices.

A strong safety commitment and five years of journeyman experience are required. Responsibilities include installing, repairing, and maintaining distribution lines, transformers, and related equipment, with on-call and overtime as needed.

About This Job:

As an A-Lineman - Journeyman, you play a critical role in constructing, maintaining, and repairing electrical power systems. You ensure the safe and reliable delivery of power to our customers. This position demands a high level of skill, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety. You work both independently and as part of a team to address a variety of electrical challenges.

Requirements

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Installs and repairs overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
  • Performs maintenance on power lines, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical equipment in substations.
  • Applies lineman skills to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Operates and maintains bucket trucks and other specialized equipment.
  • Installs, maintains, and replaces transformers.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to apprentice linemen.
  • Participates in emergency response and outage restoration efforts.
  • Makes decisions regarding the safe and effective methods for completing electrical work.

Summary

Required Qualifications:
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a certified lineman apprenticeship program.
Experience:
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a Journeyman Lineman.
  • Demonstrated experience working with electrical distribution systems.
Knowledge/Skills:
  • Expert knowledge of electrical theory and principles.
  • Proficiency in climbing and pole climbing techniques.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to power lines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Certifications in specific areas of electrical maintenance or repair.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions:
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
  • Ability to climb poles and work at heights.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be available for on-call work and overtime as needed.
