Job summary

United Airlines, Houston, seeks a Senior Line Engineer to serve as the on-site engineering authority for aircraft with significant maintenance issues, troubleshooting and expediting return-to-service decisions. You will work closely with maintenance technicians, operations and engineering to deliver safe, compliant repairs.

The role requires extensive knowledge of Boeing/Airbus systems, FAA regulations, and strong engineering judgment to minimize disruptions across the network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace) or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years airline, OEM or aviation engineering experience supporting operational aircraft.
• Strong knowledge of Boeing and/or Airbus systems, structures, and maintenance practices.
• Experience supporting Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events and recovery.

Responsibilities

• Lead Aircraft Recovery – troubleshoot complex issues, develop repair solutions, drive return-to-service decisions.
• Support Safe Operations – provide technical guidance during overnight and line maintenance for safe, compliant aircraft maintenance.
• Partner with Operations – collaborate with Maintenance, Flight Operations, Engineering and OEMs to resolve issues while ensuring safety and reliability.
• Provide Technical Authority – interpret data, manuals, and regulations to approve repair instructions and dispositions.
• Support Fleet Reliability – identify trends and propose repairs to improve fleet reliability and reduce disruptions.
