Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a forward-thinking leader in the East London arts and entertainment sector to hire a Senior Lighting Designer. You will conceptualize and implement lighting designs for theatre, concerts, corporate events and live performances, collaborating with directors, set designers, and technical teams.

The role demands a strong portfolio, proficiency in Vectorworks or WYSIWYG and lighting consoles, and a keen eye for color theory and electrical knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years as a Lighting Designer with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency in Vectorworks or WYSIWYG and control consoles.
  • Deep knowledge of stage lighting equipment, electricity, and color theory.
  • Experience in designing for theatre, concerts, and live events.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design lighting concepts and create technical drawings, including plot plans, cue sheets, and equipment specifications.
  • Select appropriate lighting fixtures, equipment, and control systems based on project requirements and budget.
  • Oversee the installation, focusing, and programming of lighting systems for various productions.
  • Collaborate with directors, set designers, and other creative personnel to achieve the desired aesthetic and mood.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to lighting equipment during rehearsals and performances.
  • Stay current with advancements in lighting technology, software, and design trends.
