Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking a Full-Time Head Lifeguard to oversee Lifeguards, Pool Operators and Instructors at the Minnie Howard Aquatics Facility, with potential duties at other city aquatics facilities and events.

You will serve as a designated manager on duty, ensuring safety, staff development, customer service, and routine pool operations, including maintaining pool chemistry and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
• Ability to supervise lifeguards, pool operators and instructors.
• Willingness to acquire Lifeguard Instructor certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the aquatic facility and ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Supervise lifeguards, pool operators, and instructors during shifts; provide coaching.
• Administer first aid and respond to emergencies; enforce pool rules and safety protocols.
• Maintain pool chemistry and coordinate with other head guards and managers.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and manage facility operations during assigned shifts.
