Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Life Underwriting Specialist to join our fully remote team. You will analyze, select and classify life insurance applications of moderate complexity under established underwriting policies, providing exceptional service to internal and external partners.

You will exercise independent judgment within your authority, collaborate with Chief Underwriter and medical staff, and strive to achieve mortality objectives while maintaining efficient processing and high-quality

Qualifications

• Underwriting knowledge including mortality and morbidity assessment.
• Ability to interpret underwriting manuals and standards.
• Strong communication with agents, associates and applicants.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite life insurance applications up to specified limits with autonomy.
• Coordinate reinsurance and liaise with field partners and underwriter staff.
• Identify evidence of insurability and order medical information when needed.
• Apply risk-based decisions and accelerated underwriting processes as appropriate.
• Ensure timely, accurate submission and high-quality underwriting outcomes.
