Arnold & Porter is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives for the Global Life Sciences Industry Group and Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory practices. You will advise attorneys, connect capabilities, and convert client insights into new opportunities across practices and sectors.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree or J.D. is a plus.
• Six years of managerial marketing experience; law firm or professional services preferred.
• Knowledge of business development in a services industry, including client development, strategy, cross-selling.
• Ability to advise lawyers, build productive relationships, and move initiatives forward.
• Excellent writing and communication for pitches, proposals, and marketing materials.
• Experience with budget planning, client account management, and staff supervision.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
• Collaborative approach with initiative and client-service focus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related tools; experience with DealCloud and Foundation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Shape growth strategy by developing practice and industry business plans.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to partners and lawyers on client development.
• Connect firm capabilities across practices to pursue opportunities in life sciences and healthcare.
• Turn market insights into actionable targeting and relationship-building.
• Lead pitches and RFP responses tailored to client priorities.
• Drive market visibility through events, webinars, and publicity initiatives.
• Support lateral growth by mentoring and cross-team collaboration.
• Leverage CRM, proposals, reporting, and AI tools to improve efficiency.
• Manage budgets, investments, and measure impact of initiatives.
• Develop the team and ensure coverage across the group.
