Excel Engineering is seeking an Automation Engineer for its Life Sciences division in Mounds View, MN. You will design PLC/HMI solutions, develop batch recipes, and support validation workflows to ensure compliant manufacturing processes for our pharmaceutical clients.

You will collaborate with engineers, PMs, vendors, and client teams on capital and operational improvement projects, with occasional travel up to 25% and a strong GMP mindset.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Minimum 5+ years as an industrial control systems engineer.
• Experience in pharma/biotech, food/bev, nutritionals, nuclear or chemical is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Understand client manufacturing processes to design control systems and automation integration.
• Develop functional and design specifications for client review and code development.
• Create PLC programs, HMI applications, and batch recipes from requirements.
• Perform control system validation per project requirements.
• Develop project scopes and proposals in response to client requests.
• Specify, configure, and commission VFDs per project scope.
• Design network layout and analyze data traffic and server needs.
• Perform power, heat, wire sizing, and fuse calculations for panels.
• Delegate work and manage multiple concurrent projects.
