Job summary

Manatal is seeking an experienced Life Safety Systems Designer to design and manage fire alarm and life safety system plans for commercial construction projects using AutoCAD. You will prepare detailed layouts, riser diagrams, BOM, and system calculations, coordinating with field operations and project teams while ensuring AHJ compliance.

A strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and related codes, plus 5+ years in life safety design, is required; NICET or related certs preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in life safety systems design or related field.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for 2D floor plans, blocks, Xrefs, and page setups.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm codes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical plans.
• Experience with Word, Excel, and Adobe applications.

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm and life safety systems for commercial projects.
• Prepare CAD drawings, floor plans, riser diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs.
• Coordinate with field operations, customers, engineers, architects, and project teams.
• Update drawings based on field changes and prepare as-built documentation.
• Prepare sequences of operations and required system calculations.
• Communicate design updates, project timelines, and approvals to stakeholders.
