Protective is adding a full-time resource to our Underwriting team based in the corporate office in Birmingham, AL.

This job will be titled Underwriting Generalist II within our organization.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrites Life and Disability applications within authority limits, including impaired risk, assessing medical and financial risk, and evaluating each requirement as received. Ability to Approve, Decline, or Postpone both Life and Disability applications.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Maintain professional relationships with external customers by communicating effectively and promptly, offering reasonable solutions that meet customer needs while protecting the business objectives
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and management to create an effective, high-performance work environment
  • Manage assigned workload meeting production and time service standards
  • Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Life and Disability underwriting experience
  • Bachelor's degree or applicable experience
  • Must demonstrate the ability to make sound underwriting decisions in a dynamic environment while handling a sizeable caseload
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills are essential
  • Customer focus
  • Track record demonstrating good quality and productivity as well as career advancement and increasing approval authority
  • Industry coursework commensurate with experience
  • Proven ability to organize and deliver on time with excellent results
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
Compensation

Protective's targeted salary range for this position is $68,500 to $100,500. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective's total compensation package for employees.
