Job summary

Avalara seeks a Senior Consultant, License Managed Services, to be the premier SME and technical mentor for the License Managed Services team. You will manage delivery for Avalara’s largest enterprise customers, translating deep tax and licensing expertise into scalable frameworks and elevated standards.

This role focuses on raising the team's technical floor, building trust with top accounts, coaching Analysts, and delivering high-accuracy, compliant filings while advancing AI-enabled workflows

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Tax, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in business licensing, tax registration, or multi-jurisdictional regulatory compliance.
• Multi-jurisdictional knowledge of licensing, sales, use and payroll tax registrations across U.S. states.
• Experience coaching technical team members and delivering high-complexity client engagements.
• Ability to translate domain knowledge into repeatable frameworks and training materials.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution for Avalara’s most intricate enterprise customers with accountability for outcomes.
• Be the designated technical authority for Analysts on difficult jurisdictional unblocking and filing strategies.
• Raise technical standards by sharing deep tax and licensing knowledge through reviews and guides.
• Serve as final technical reviewer for complex deliverables ensuring accuracy and compliance before client delivery.
• Identify manual workflows and develop simplified, documented frameworks for less-experienced teammates.
