Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Senior Surveyor in the United States to lead boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and right-of-way projects from proposal through final deliverables. You will supervise field crews, ensure QA/QC, prepare legal descriptions, and seal documents as Surveyor of Record under state regulations.

Qualified candidates hold a PLS license (PA preferred), a related degree, 8+ years of experience, and proficiency with Carlson, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble BCenter, GNSS, and UAV

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive survey experience, including project management and supervision of survey personnel.
• Professional Land Surveyor license in Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
• Strong knowledge of boundary law, deed interpretation, ALTA/NSPS standards, and land development surveys.
• Experience managing topographic, boundary, construction, utility, transportation, and geospatial mapping projects.
• Proficiency with Carlson Survey, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Trimble GNSS equipment, and conventional survey instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, construction stakeout, as-built, and control survey projects from proposal through final deliverables.
• Serve as Surveyor of Record and prepare, review, certify, and seal survey plats, maps, legal descriptions, and related documents in accordance with state regulations.
• Direct and supervise survey field crews, UAV operations, and office technicians to ensure quality, safety, and project efficiency.
• Establish, verify, and maintain survey control networks using GNSS, total stations, digital levels, and conventional survey methodologies.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of field data, calculations, CADD deliverables, and final survey products.
• Conduct boundary analysis, deed research, title review, easement interpretation, and right-of-way investigations.
• Coordinate survey activities with project managers, engineers, clients, contractors, utility companies, and regulatory agencies.
• Review construction drawings and provide survey support for design, construction layout, and infrastructure projects.
• Utilize and oversee data processing workflows using Carlson, Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other geospatial software platforms.
• Support aerial mapping, photogrammetry, LiDAR, and UAV data acquisition and processing efforts.
• Prepare project scopes, schedules, budgets, proposals, and technical reports while ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
• Mentor and develop junior survey staff while promoting safe work practices and compliance with OSHA regulations.
