Job summary

Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a Licensed Midwife (Clinical Coordinator III) to provide full-scope obstetric and gynecologic care at White Plains and Westchester Hospital. You will collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care.

This role reports to the General Obstetrics and Gynecology Division Administrator and Collaborating Physician, with weekday, weekend, and night coverage as noted in the position.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience.
• Master’s degree in a health-related field and certification as a Midwife from an approved program.
• Current New York State Midwifery License.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to direct work and collaborate.
• Must maintain licensure throughout employment.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal/written communication and observation skills.
• Professionalism and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide full scope obstetric and gynecologic care for patients.
• Promote patient satisfaction within the designated patient population.
• Coordinate care with nursing staff and other health care providers.
• Document patient history, exams, and treatment plans.
• Administer medications and treatments in compliance with NYS laws.
• Engage in quality assurance and peer review activities.
• Educate patients and families about health status and plans.
• Collaborate on clinical problems within the interdisciplinary team.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience

Master’s degree in a health-related field and certification as a Midwife

Current New York State Midwifery License

Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

Must maintain licensure throughout employment
