Job summary

JMT is seeking a senior-level Survey Operations Lead to manage multiple field crews and office staff on civil and transportation projects. This position drives project delivery, oversees QA/QC, and supports client development while ensuring performance and profitability.

The role requires a PLS license within six months, 12+ years of survey experience (5+ in supervision), and extensive DOT/municipal project background. Strong MicroStation/OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D skills are essential.

Qualifications

• PLS license or eligibility to sit for the exam within six months of hire (exam fees paid by JMT).
• Twelve plus years of survey experience with at least five in a supervisory role.
• Extensive DOT/municipal project background.
• Fluency with Bentley MicroStation / OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local survey regulations.
• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s in surveying or civil tech preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise daily activities of several field crews and office technicians.
• Enforce QA/QC, manage budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
• Coordinate with VDOT and local municipalities on roadway and utility corridor surveys.
• Grow regional business through proposal support and relationship building.
• Coach staff through regular one-on-one sessions and performance planning.
