JMT is seeking a senior survey operations leader to oversee civil and transportation projects. The role manages multiple field crews and office staff, ensuring project delivery meets QA/QC standards and client expectations.

You will coordinate with VDOT and municipalities, support proposals, and mentor staff to uphold high performance and regulatory compliance. A robust DOT background and PLS license are required.

Qualifications

• Requires PLS license and 12+ years surveying experience, 5+ in a supervisory role.
• Extensive DOT/municipal project background and knowledge of survey regs.

Lead survey operations for JMT's civil and transportation projects. This senior-level position manages multiple fields crews, oversees project delivery, and drives client development while enjoying the stability of an employee-owned firm ranked for top-tier benefits.

Plan and supervise daily activities of several field crews and office technicians. Enforce QA/QC, manage budgets, schedules, and client expectations. Coordinate with VDOT and local municipalities on roadway and utility corridor surveys. Grow regional business through proposal support and relationship building. Coach staff through regular one-on-one sessions and performance planning.

Requirements

PLS license is required. Twelve plus years of survey experience with at least five in a supervisory role. Extensive DOT/municipal project background. Fluency with Bentley MicroStation / OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D. In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local survey regulations. High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's in surveying or civil tech preferred.

Subsurface utility locating/designating expertise. Experience with LiDAR, aerial mapping, or sUAS operations.
