Job summary

The Vermont Historical Society seeks a Librarian to administer the Howard and Alba Leahy Library in Barre, VT. You will lead curatorial efforts for printed, manuscript, and media collections, report to the Director of Collections & Access, and collaborate with staff on strategic collections projects.

Key duties include supervising staff and volunteers, expanding access via cataloging and digitization, managing budgets, and engaging with universities and researchers to promote Vermont history.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program.
• 5 years experience in special collections or archives.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with cataloging and metadata standards.
• Experience with Integrated Library Systems.

Responsibilities

• Ensure access to Library collections through cataloging, digitization, exhibits, and outreach.
• Supervise Access Librarian, library staff, and volunteers; set library policies.
• Help develop and manage library budget.
