Overview

A software company located in Southern California is looking to bring on a Staff level Java Engineer. They're also open to 8-10 year Senior level candidates who don't already have a Staff title. You'll be developing in Java, SpringBoot, AWS and IAC, React, Typescript, Javascript, Next.JS, Rest API and Terraform. You'll be doing 70% backend development, 30% frontend development and heavily doing 90% greenfield development. You'll work on their consumer facing application and this role is remote, however, they're only looking for PST or MST time zone candidates since you'll be working on the PST time zone.

They're looking for someone with strong communication and strong presentation skills as you'll be interacting with and presenting to non technical folks in the organization. They're also looking for someone who has strong design/architecture skills and someone who has a strong sense of ownership. Any experience in fintech, finance, payments, banking will be a plus!

Responsibilities

• Develop in Java, SpringBoot, AWS, microservices, and related technologies
• Contribute to both backend (70%) and frontend (30%) development, with a focus on greenfield projects
• Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders, presenting with clarity and impact
• Align with architecture and design best practices, maintaining ownership of technical decisions
• Work on a consumer facing application in a remote PST/MST time zone setup

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Java, SpringBoot, AWS, Microservices
• Strong hands-on development experience and design/architecture expertise
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable presenting to executives and shareholders who are not technical
• Experience with Angular or React
• Candidates in the PST or MST time zones
• If a candidate does not have a Staff title, must have Senior level experience (8-10 years)
• Stable work history without frequent job changes
• Independent thinker with problem-solving skills
• Experience in fintech, finance, payments or banking is a plus
• Docker and Kubernetes experience is a plus
