Job summary

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeks a Legislative Director for the Office of Senator Eldridge. The LD will advise and manage the Senator's legislative agenda, lead policy development, and oversee all legislative initiatives on behalf of the Senator, coordinating with staff on bills, hearings, and constituent concerns.

The position offers a comprehensive compensation package and state employee benefits. Salary ranges from $79,570 to $119,355 yearly, with standard state benefits and a day

Responsibilities

• Research policy issues and draft legislation, amendments, and committee testimony.
• Collaborate with and advise the Senator and senior staff on strategies and legislation.
• Monitor legislation affecting the Senator’s district and Senator's principal sponsors.
• Organize and manage workflow for hearings, meetings and events.
• Respond to legislative inquiries from constituents and stakeholders.
• Brief the Senator on key issues before meetings and sessions.
• Draft and edit speeches, talking points, and remarks for the Senator.
• Convene, inform, and persuade various stakeholders regarding the legislation.
• Review policy and legal issues related to assigned committees.
• Provide constituent services and support district events.
• Assist with messaging, media relations and outreach.
• Attend events with the Senator or on their behalf.
• Assist with administrative duties and staff hiring/training.

Education

Juris Doctor (JD) degree and Massachusetts bar
