Job summary

Metropolitan King County Council seeks a Principal Legislative Analyst to lead objective policy and planning analyses across growth management, land use, and development regulations. The role emphasizes nonpartisan, data-driven guidance for councilmembers and committees in a hybrid King County environment.

The successful candidate will conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses, prepare GIS maps, and develop staff reports and briefings for elected officials, with mentorship to junior staff

Qualifications

• Master's degree in public administration, planning, or related field and 8+ years of analytical experience.
• Extensive knowledge of Growth Management Act, SEPA, land use planning, and GIS mapping.
• Ability to prepare staff reports, briefings, and legislative amendments for elected officials.

Responsibilities

• Conduct objective qualitative and quantitative analysis of legislation and proposals.
• Prepare GIS maps and basic GIS analysis for land use and transportation policies.
• Prepare and present staff reports and briefings to committees and the public.
