Job summary

KMRG, LLC in Washington, DC is seeking a Legislative Affairs Specialist to support the Inter-American Foundation. This senior role provides expert guidance on congressional reporting, interagency engagement, and budgeting analyses, advising leadership while coordinating with IAF stakeholders.

You will draft briefings, testimony, and Q&A materials, manage external communications, and develop annual workplans to ensure timely, compliant deliverables. Local travel may be required.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, written and spoken.
• Bachelor's degree in political science, public administration, public policy, law, international relations, communications, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with Capitol Hill and U.S. executive agencies.
• Strong understanding of legislative and executive branches, including appropriations and budgeting.
• Experience analyzing legislation, statutory language, and committee reports for operational or budgetary impacts.
• Experience drafting sensitive executive briefings, testimony, and Q&A materials for congressional or interagency engagements.
• Strong plain-language writing skills and ability to distill complex information into concise executive materials under tight deadlines.
• Experience preparing and clearing responses to Congressional Letters of Inquiry, RFIs, and annual reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level SME support on congressional and interagency reporting.
• Advise leadership on congressional and interagency matters.
• Draft executive briefings, talking points, memoranda, testimony, Q&A materials, and sensitive communications.
• Coordinate with Communications Team on external publications and materials.
• Develop an annual external-affairs workplan with key reports and milestones.
• Prepare monthly status reports on projects and priorities for leadership.
• Support oversight travel and external-facing events as needed.
• Prepare final close-out report and transition memo for completed work.
