The Legal team is responsible for managing the legal affairs of the company, including providing legal counsel across the organization, handling disputes, and creating and enforcing intellectual property.

We are looking for our future Senior Legal Counsel / Legal Director to join our Global Legal team and support our activities in Northern Europe.

The role is based in Europe, in countries with a Resmed entity, with a strong preference for the UK and Ireland.

The role is offered remotely with occasional travel within Europe & overseas.

Let's talk about the Role :

As Senior Legal Counsel / Legal Director, Northern Europe, you will oversee all activities related to legal affairs within ResMed’s Northern Europe country market group (CMG) and across Europe as part of the European Legal Team. The Northern Europe CMG includes the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Poland, Czech Republic, Middle East, Greece, and South Africa.

Reporting directly to the Legal Director EMEA Commercial, you will be an integral part of the Northern Europe CMG management team and a senior member of the European Legal Team.

The Legal Team supports the business by advising on operations and governance, handling disputes, and providing legal education.

Your client base will include the corporate and operational groups focusing on Northern Europe and across Europe, covering marketing, sales, service, IP, technology, privacy, R&D, and manufacturing.

This role also supports corporate finance, governance, compliance, privacy, investments, and acquisitions as part of the Global Legal Team.

The Legal Team manages litigation and dispute resolution and educates client groups on relevant laws and practices.

Let's talk about Responsibilities :

  • Analyze regional legal and corporate risks, offering recommendations and managing external transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate major contracts, including purchase agreements, sales agreements, and lease agreements within Northern Europe and Europe.
  • Provide advice on internal processes and projects across Northern Europe and Europe, including sales, eCommerce, manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, privacy, SaaS, medical affairs, and IT.
  • Offer legal guidance on commercial matters in Northern Europe and Europe.
  • Advise on compliance issues, including GDPR, European Competition laws, and laws related to medical devices and medical affairs.
  • Educate client groups on relevant legal practices and laws.
  • Assist Human Resources with employment law issues.
  • Support litigation efforts and manage legal budgets and external counsel.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Let's talk about Qualifications, Skills, and Experience :

  • Law degree and current license to practice, preferably in the UK.
  • Significant legal experience with leadership roles in law firms or publicly traded companies.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Experience in technology or life sciences, especially digital healthcare, is desirable.
