Job summary

Responsibilities

• Focal point for the U.S. Safran Electronics & Defense division on all US legal matters.
• Identify and mitigate business and legal risks in contracts and obtain internal approvals.
• Review, draft, and negotiate corporate and transactional documents.
• Conduct contract negotiations with customers and suppliers; support leadership in high-level negotiations.
• Coordinate cross-functional leadership in tax, finance, engineering, compliance, insurance, litigation, and HR.
• Work on ad hoc legal projects including policies and templates.
• Manage and support resolution of disputes and litigation.
• Ensure compliance with Safran legal practices and applicable laws.

Job description

The Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for supporting Safran in a broad range general corporate, contractual matters and litigation matters with a focus on the U.S. Safran Electronics & Defense parameter. Working closely with Safran Electronics & Defense's management and other cross-functional groups (e.g., finance, tax, and human resources), the Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for managing and supporting the negotiation of commercial contracts and for providing legal support on a wide variety of matters, including employment, litigation and disputes, strategic transactions, real estate and regulatory issues. The Senior Legal Counsel will often interact with internal and external business clients while addressing complex issues in an accurate, clear, and concise manner.

The position will be based in Rockford, Illinois or Grand Prairie, Texas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Focal point for the U.S. Safran Electronics & Defense division on all US legal matters.
• Identify and mitigate business and legal risks in prospective and existing contracts and ensure the necessary internal approvals from management have been obtained.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a diverse range of corporate and transactional agreements and documents.
• Perform contract negotiations directly with customers and suppliers and support leadership during higher level negotiations.
• Coordinate and manage the appropriate cross-functional leadership in a variety of areas, such as tax, finance, engineering, compliance, insurance, litigation and human resources.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a diverse range of corporate and transactional agreements and documents.
• Work on ad hoc legal projects, including but not limited to, new policies, templates and processes, and other corporate legal and regulatory matters.
• Manage and support resolution of formal disputes and litigation.
• Ensure compliance with Safran legal practices and applicable laws and regulations.
