Job summary

American Fidelity seeks a seasoned legal assistant/paralegal to prepare and review documents for the Law Department across the Company and affiliates in Oklahoma City. The role requires five+ years in relevant areas such as insurance, transactions or employee benefits, with strong drafting and coordination abilities.

You will analyze legal sources, draft materials, and support attorneys with minimal supervision, communicating clearly with internal teams and external counsel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or ABA-paralegal certification in lieu of degree.
• Minimum of five years experience as a legal assistant/paralegal in insurance, transactional, litigation or employee benefits.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, organizing, and managing legal documents related to trusts, governance, investment transactions, M&A due diligence, and closing materials.
• Ability to coordinate with internal stakeholders, trustees, family office teams, company officers, outside counsel, accountants, investment advisors, and other external advisors to manage legal projects.
• Proficiency with legal technology, document management systems, matter tracking, workflow improvements, and process enhancements designed to improve efficiency, consistency, visibility, and risk management.
• Strong analytical, organizational, written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and consultative skills, including the ability to support training on trust administration, governance, transactional processes, and compliance obligations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review legal documents applicable to position's area of specialty for approval and use by the Law Department across the Company and affiliates.
• Research and analyze legal sources and documents to provide legal support services to attorneys, internal clients and outside counsel with minimal supervision.
• Communicate complex information, both written and oral, to Colleagues at all levels of the Company and affiliates.
