We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Leave of Absence Consultant to join our dynamic team.
As a Senior Leave of Absence Consultant at Avant Specialty Benefits, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the leave of absence programs for our clients. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws, providing expert guidance to clients, and developing strategies to improve leave management processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Consultation: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding leave of absence matters. Provide expert advice and support on leave policies, procedures, and compliance.
- Compliance Management: Ensure clients’ leave of absence programs are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and other relevant laws.
- Program Development: Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive leave of absence programs tailored to the specific needs of each client.
- Training and Education: Conduct training sessions and workshops for clients’ HR teams and managers on leave of absence policies and best practices.
- Case Management: Oversee complex leave cases, including intermittent leave, disability accommodations, and return-to-work plans. Coordinate with HR, legal, and other departments as necessary.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve leave of absence processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience.
- Reporting and Analytics: Generate and analyze reports on leave of absence trends, metrics, and compliance to provide insights and recommendations to clients.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SPHR, CLMS) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in leave of absence management, preferably in a consulting or benefits administration role.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws and regulations. Familiarity with FMLA, ADA, and other relevant legislation.
- Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in HRIS and leave management software.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong client service orientation and ability to build lasting relationships.
- Travel: Occasional overnight travel is required.

The salary range for this role is $70,000–$100,000. Compensation is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, work experience and industry certifications. In addition to your salary, Avant offers a comprehensive total rewards program including annual bonuses, total wellbeing benefits and support for professional development.
