We do this by giving smart, creative, passionate people opportunities to create awesome. And that’s where you come in:

Instructure is seeking a Senior Learning Consultant (Dedicated Remote) focused on Instructure’s products—including Canvas LMS, Mastery Connect, and Impact— to work with large institutions across multiple markets (K12, Higher Ed, Business & Government) as part of our Learning Services Dedicated Consulting team. Senior Learning Consultants will deepen and elevate client use of Instructure products to meet organization-specific initiatives and pedagogical goals by providing project management, change leadership, customized consultation, resource development, pedagogical expertise, and hands‑on targeted coaching. Our team tailors both content and the customer experience to support institutions with the aim of leading positive change, increasing product adoption, enhancing learner engagement, and driving organization‑specific initiatives.

A successful Senior Learning Consultant will confidently build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, understanding and prioritizing their needs with the goal of providing exceptional value and a positive experience.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Provide guidance through the use of best practices in learning and assessment and the Instructure ecosystem.

  • Support the customer’s vision for using Canvas LMS, Mastery Connect, Impact, and other Instructure tools and products.

  • Offer best‑practice guidance on Instructure product‑related projects.

  • Share strategies for change leadership, understand both current and planned future states, and work to support the organization’s vision.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand and support communication, training, and engagement plans/timelines while seeking to mitigate risks.

  • Develop curriculum, assessment, and/or programmatic strategies by determining instructional approaches, student experience, program development, faculty interactions, and assessment.

  • Curate and create adoption resources and professional development materials tailored to customer needs.

  • Curate and create plans, resources, and materials addressing customer needs related to Instructure products, including best practices for formative assessment, curriculum maps, benchmarks, and new feature updates.

  • Assist with key plan execution, including product‑related assessment strategy deployment and resource promotion to enhance engagement.

  • Sustain growth by regularly reviewing pertinent data and defining next phase goals.

  • Support staff with recommendations for Instructure product best practices that connect to the institution’s instructional framework, and provide workshops for admins, PD/curriculum leaders, instructional coaches, and other staff.

  • Assist and coach staff through product use, provide feedback, and facilitate change implementation.

  • Assist with Mastery Connect assessment development, deployment, and facilitation for formative assessment, curriculum maps, and benchmarks.

  • Build institutional capacity with targeted consulting and ongoing coaching; mentor and support the customer team as needed.

  • Provide expertise in Canvas LMS and Mastery Connect administration, including integration of both platforms.

  • Attend meetings for planning and progress updates.

  • Complete other tasks and assignments supporting Instructure product use.

Here Is What You Will Need to Know/Have
  • Minimum of five years of Instructure product experience required—including best practices in Mastery Connect and Canvas LMS, and creating engaging, responsive, accessible Canvas courses that address diverse teaching and learning needs.

  • At least one year of experience with other Instructure tools.

  • At least one year in an educational leadership position overseeing a team that supports learning management systems for pedagogical purposes (more preferred).

  • Experience leading change, building strong relationships, and rolling out a technology platform to a large organization.

  • At least one year of experience creating effective professional development for educators.

  • At least three years of teaching experience, including experience with digital learning environments.

  • Current knowledge of technology adoption strategies, professional development protocols, and educational technology best practices.

  • Impeccable executive leadership presence and excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Creative thinking, strong problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a high‑pressure environment and be comfortable with ambiguity while maintaining professionalism.

  • Experience delivering high‑quality presentations in a professional environment.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to project adjustments and alterations.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Technology or equivalent; Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or Instructional Technology a plus.

  • Willingness to travel to client sites may be required. Future assignments may require additional travel and extended onsite engagements in other locations.

Application Process

Our consultants engage in strategic conversations with executive‑level stakeholders by delivering recommendations and creating deliverables that support both short‑and long‑term adoption success with Instructure products. We routinely work directly with building‑level leaders and educators to forge meaningful connections between pedagogy and our Instructure products.

For these tasks, we want to understand how you would approach the Senior Learning Consultant (Dedicated) role by requesting the following:

OPTIONAL:
  • Letter(s) of recommendation

REQUIRED:
  • Resume: Submit a resume clearly detailing your Instructure product experience, educational leadership, and experience in leading and driving change.

  • Screencast: Create a 3‑5 minute instructional screencast about something an administrator or teacher would create in Mastery Connect that you would like to highlight. Take us through beginner, intermediate, and advanced scenarios. This is not training; rather, it’s an opportunity to inspire stakeholders to leverage Mastery Connect. Use a screencasting tool of your choice and submit the URL.

  • Cover Letter (Optional): Include a personalized cover letter detailing how your experience and skills make you the best candidate for this role and why you want to work with Instructure as a Senior Learning Consultant.

  • Canvas Course: Create or repurpose a Canvas course that you have designed (no imported content from others, please—we want to see your own work). Share a Canvas Course export file so we can view your content. If helpful, consider the Canvas Course Evaluation Checklist when designing and organizing your course.

    • The primary goal is to see if you can model best instructional practices, organize ideas in Canvas, and communicate effectively.

    • The secondary goal is to gauge your instructional design, pedagogical, and technical skills through your course.

    • If you don’t yet have access to Canvas, feel free to sign up for a free Canvas lite account.

As part of your application, be sure to submit:*

  • A public link to your screencast

  • Your Canvas course export file
