Job summary

Job description

As a Senior Learning and Development Specialist, you will partner with business units across German American Bank to design, develop, implement, and facilitate learning solutions that support employee and leader growth. This role is ideal for an experienced L&D professional who enjoys both the structure of instructional design and project ownership, as well as the connection and energy that comes from regularly facilitating learning experiences. A successful candidate will be comfortable managing learning projects from needs analysis through evaluation, creating practical and engaging learning materials, and facilitating classroom, virtual, and blended programs for employees at all levels of the organization.

What You’ll Do:

A Day in the Life – Your focus will be balanced between designing and developing learning solutions, managing training projects, and regularly facilitating development courses across the organization. You will create and maintain facilitator guides, participant materials, eLearning, videos, and other performance support tools, while also leading engaging classroom, virtual, and blended learning experiences for employees, teams, and leaders. This role requires someone who enjoys the thoughtful design work behind effective learning and also values the connection that comes from facilitating directly with learners.

What it Takes:

• Three or more years of successful experience in corporate training, learning and development, instructional design, or a related field.
• Strong instructional design skills, including the ability to assess needs, design practical learning solutions, develop materials, and evaluate effectiveness.
• Strong facilitation skills and a genuine interest in regularly leading classroom, virtual, and blended learning experiences for employees, leaders, and teams.
• Ability to manage learning projects independently from concept through implementation, including organizing work, meeting deadlines, reporting progress, and adjusting as business needs change.
• Confidence partnering with leaders and subject matter experts to identify learning needs, ask good questions, make recommendations, and translate business goals into effective development solutions.
• Ability to work with a high level of ownership, good judgment, and resourcefulness in a growing L&D function.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, coaching, presentation, critical thinking, planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with speed and accuracy, maintain confidentiality, learn quickly, and contribute both independently and as part of a team.

Bonus points:

• Experience in banking, financial services, sales enablement, leadership development, or career development programs.
• Experience using Cornerstone or another Learning Management System.
• Experience developing eLearning, videos, or performance support tools using Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, or similar tools.
• Experience supporting talent development initiatives such as career pathing, competency development, leadership programs, assessments, or coaching tools.
• Familiarity with Predictive Index or similar behavioral, talent, or leadership assessment tools.
