Job summary

Penumbra, Inc., headquartered in Alameda, California, seeks a Senior Industrial/Continuous Improvement Engineer to lead Lean initiatives that optimize costs and maximize throughput. You will guide teams to establish flow, create Standard Work, and improve layouts with data-driven performance metrics, while collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and R&D to implement improvements.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering and 4+ years in a medical device

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; plus 4+ years in medical device or related industry.
• Medical device/regulatory industry experience desirable.
• 4+ years of Continuous Improvement experience in a medical device industry role desirable.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and clean room practice.
• Ability to design, analyze and implement industrial engineering techniques.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities using CI tools to optimize costs and maximize manpower, equipment, space, and investments.
• Guide teams to establish Flow, Standard Work, and Performance Metrics for sustained improvements.
• Lead Lean projects to improve productivity, reduce lead time, and maximize space usage.
• Review production schedules, process flows, and work instructions to understand methods in manufacturing.
• Conduct Time Studies and Value/Non-Value-added analysis to inform improvement plans.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and R&D to identify opportunities and workspace improvements.
• Develop detailed work plans and strategies with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain a safe, compliant workplace and adhere to QMS and regulatory standards.
• Ensure adherence to security, privacy, and applicable regulations.
