Job summary

NC State University is seeking an Associate Vice Chancellor, Research Administration to lead the Office of Sponsored Programs and steer university-wide pre-award services, contracts, and data governance. This executive role reports to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation and partners with faculty, centers, and sponsors to advance NC State’s research mission.

You will shape strategy for external funding, oversee systems modernization, and build trusted relationships with university

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership in sponsored programs, research administration, or related function.
• Experience negotiating complex research agreements and managing risk.
• Proven ability to lead organizational transformation and enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Strong communication, strategic decision making, and relationship management.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the university’s sponsored programs enterprise.
• Advise leadership on research administration strategy, compliance, and risk.
• Lead policy development and governance to strengthen research administration.
• Foster collaboration, service excellence, and accountability across OSP and research community.
• Represent NC State in sponsor negotiations and external engagements.
