Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join the Consumer and Community Banking Connected Commerce team in New York. You will guide an agile, high-performing squad to design, build, and operate trusted, scalable technology products.

You will lead modern backend services using Java 21, Spring Boot, and cloud-native patterns, while shaping architecture with Kafka data pipelines and domain-driven design. Expect collaboration across tech stacks and business units.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items with Java 21 and Spring Boot for RESTful backend apps.
• Experience designing high-throughput, low-latency data pipelines with Kafka, KSQL, Kafka Streams.
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, Postgres, Cassandra, etc.).
• Experience in API services, microservices with Domain Driven Design patterns.
• Experience with Terraform to provision AWS cloud services and cloud-native solutions.
• Experience with AWS: EKS, EC2, ECS, EventBridge, Lambda, Route53, S3; cloud-native mindset.

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking Connected Commerce team, you will play a crucial role in an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your contributions and capabilities will promote significant business impact, as you apply your deep technical expertise and problem-solving skills to address a wide range of challenges across various technologies and applications.

Job responsibilities

• Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise with development experience in Java 21 with building RESTful backend applications using Spring Boot
• Experience in designing, building and maintaining high-thought put low latency data pipelines using Apache Kafka, KSQL and Kafka Streams
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases such as Oracle, Postgres, Cassandra, etc.
• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining API services, with knowledge of Microservices with Domain Driven Design Patterns
• Experience working with tools like Terraform to provision AWS cloud services
• Experience with AWS EKS, AWS EC2, AWS ECS, EventBridge, Lambda, Route53, and AWS S3
• Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
• Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
• Practical cloud native experience
• Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience with banking and digital wallets
• AWS Certification
