Job Title: Senior/Lead Software Engineer

Location: CA (Remote)

Duration: 12+ months

Overview:

The seven (7) Vital Records desktop applications (“apps”) are used to access the Center for Health Statistics and Information (CHSI) Vital Record Image Repository via FileNet Image Services and are essential to the business process. These apps were written in the late 1990s in Microsoft Visual Basic and no longer conform to the client’s standards for security, authentication, and communication. The desired result is an application with modules built upon a modern C# code base, fully supported in Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 or later, and it must conform to the client’s standards for security, authentication, communication, and audit trails.

Mandatory Experience

1. This classification must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming. At least three (3) years of that experience must have been in a lead capacity.
2. Minimum five (5) years’ experience in supporting, tuning, and software patching on various Bell and Howell Scanner models (e.g., 8140DBI, i5250v) connected to Kofax Adrenaline scanner controller (e.g., 850V PCI, 650i).
3. Knowledge and experience in supporting the interface between hardware (various Bell and Howell Scanner models) and .NET desktop applications.
4. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience with MS Windows Server 2016, 2019, & 2022 operating systems.
5. Experience with MS SQL 2016 or later, Visual Basic 6.0, ASP, VB Script, JavaScript, HTML, and C# ASP.NET.
6. This classification requires the possession of a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Desirable Experience

1. Additional years above the mandatory minimum years of experience.
2. A minimum of two (2) years of experience performing IT technical writing.
3. Experience can include being in a position as a specialist or research assistant in a technical field.
