IFF, a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients and health & biosciences, seeks a Senior Lead Scientist in Biochemistry and Analytical Chemistry in Palo Alto. You will guide enzyme discovery and development from concept to tech development and mentor scientists across teams.

Lead programs in enzyme engineering and analytical assays, integrate datasets, and collaborate with protein engineering, fermentation, applications, bioinformatics and computation groups to drive technology

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Biology or related field.
• Typically 10+ years in industry or postdoc in biochemistry or analytical chemistry.
• Expertise in enzyme characterization, protein chemistry and mechanistic biochemistry.
• Strong data analysis, kinetics and thermodynamics understanding.
• Experience developing biochemical, enzymatic and analytical assays.

Responsibilities

• Lead innovative enzyme research programs in engineering, catalysis and protein chemistry.
• Develop kinetic/thermodynamic models to guide engineering priorities.
• Build robust biochemical, enzymatic and analytical assays, including HT/HTP workflows.
• Interpret advanced analytical data (LC-MS/MS, LC/GC, spectroscopy) to inform decisions.
• Mentor scientists, promote data quality, and contribute to IP with disclosures and publications.
