Job summary

Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center, Inc. seeks a Senior Lead Residential Counselor to build therapeutic relationships and supervise youth in a secure residential program. The role focuses on guiding treatment goals, maintaining a positive culture, and coordinating care documentation within a fully accredited facility.

Candidates should have the ability to rotate weekends and contribute to staffing while ensuring safety and high-quality resident care in a youth-focused setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and adolescents preferred.
  • Must be able to rotate weekends with Senior Lead staff.
  • Requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Supervise residents’ attainment of treatment goals.
  • Maintain positive normative culture.
  • Rotate every other weekend with Senior Lead Residential staff.
  • Utilize established mechanisms to enhance communication.
  • Assist in staffing needs of the facility.
  • Adhere to all supervision responsibilities related to monitoring.
  • Assist with the supervision and accountability of unit staff.
  • Ensure the coordination and completion of all documentation related to resident care.

Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7- 17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field with coursework in Psychology and Child and Adolescent Development preferred.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents preferred.
  • Required to rotate weekends with Senior Lead staff.
  • Previous experience working in a residential or psychiatric setting with children and adolescents preferred.
  • Requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
