Keywords Studios is a leading provider of creative and technical services to over 950 clients, including major AAA developers and publishers such as Microsoft, Bandai Namco, and PlayStation. With a global network of 75+ studios, we support all aspects of game development, including Localization, QA, Audio Services, Art Production, Game Development, and Marketing.

About the Role:

In 2025, we are expanding our creative studios worldwide! We seek talented game lighting artists to join our teams and contribute to renowned game titles. At Keywords Studios, you'll work with a dynamic team of professionals, helping to uphold our high standards of quality and service.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Define and deliver high-quality lighting across game environments, from concept to final polish.
  2. Collaborate with the art director, environment artists, and technical teams to support gameplay, narrative, and mood through lighting.
  3. Troubleshoot and resolve lighting issues, ensuring consistency, quality, stability, and performance across platforms.
  4. Optimize lighting setups to achieve visual excellence without sacrificing performance.
  5. Use atmospheric elements like fog, volumetrics, and light probes to enhance immersion and tone.
  6. Maintain and document lighting workflows and standards for team consistency.
  7. For Leads: Manage and mentor lighting artists, providing feedback, guidance, and support.
  8. For Seniors: Contribute as a key team member and support junior artists through mentorship and example.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Lighting Artist on AAA titles, with at least one shipped game on current-gen hardware or equivalent work demonstrating advanced lighting skills.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing lighting that enhances gameplay, atmosphere, and storytelling.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine (preferably UE5), including lighting workflows, Blueprint, and Time of Day systems.
  • Solid understanding of real-time lighting principles, PBR, HDR, EV, LUTs, and color grading workflows.
  • Ability to debug lighting issues and optimize for performance.
  • Knowledge of photographic lighting concepts and their application in game engines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Residency and legal right to work in at least one of the following locations: United States, Canada, Australia, EU, United Kingdom, China.
