Job description

Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Game Engine Programmer to join our dynamic team. As a Game Engine Programmer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the core systems that power our games. You will have a direct impact on the stability, scalability, and performance of our game engine.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Design and implement core engine systems such as scene management, memory management, and file I/O.
  2. Optimize system performance to ensure smooth gameplay experiences.
  3. Collaborate with other engineers to integrate new features into the engine.
  4. Debug and resolve complex system-level issues.
  5. Maintain and update documentation for engine systems.
  6. Work closely with QA to ensure system reliability and stability.
  7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in systems engineering.

Core Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  2. 4+ years of experience in systems engineering within the video game industry.
  3. Strong proficiency in C++ and experience with low-level programming.
  4. Experience with game engine architecture and development, ideally Unreal.
  5. Knowledge of multithreading, networking, and memory management.
  6. Understanding of optimization principles, machine performance characteristics, profiling tools.
  7. Strong math foundation.
  8. Ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  9. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Plus if...

  1. Experience with cross-platform development (PC, consoles).
  2. Familiarity with modern rendering techniques (ray tracing, Vulkan, etc.).
  3. Previous work on proprietary game engines.
  4. Experience with Unreal Engine 5.

The base pay range for this position is $170,000 to $210,000 per year. Actual compensation is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
