Job summary

Era Living is seeking a full-time Senior Lead Food Server for the Aljoya Mercer Island Community on Mercer Island, WA. The role oversees daily Dining Room operations, supervises staff, and ensures residents and guests receive top-quality service during meals.

Applicants typically have 1–2 years in restaurant or assisted living food service or prior lead experience with Era Living, with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Flexible shifts and eligibility for certifications are noted.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED equivalent.
• 1–2 years in restaurant or assisted living food service, or lead food server experience with Era Living.
• First Aid/CPR certified or able to obtain within 30 days; Food Handler’s Certificate within 14 days.
• Alcohol serving certification or ability to obtain within 14 days.

Responsibilities

• Develops staff schedules to ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
• Expedite dinner operations by supporting serving, hosting, bussing and dishwashing.
• Assists with staff training and informs servers of assigned sections.
• Supervises Dining Room staff during meals to ensure high service quality.
• Supports needs of residents and staff during dinner and performs pre/post meal duties.
• Works with supervisor on budget and purchasing of small wares and uniforms.

Era Living is seeking full-time Senior Lead Food Server to become the newest members of our Dining Services team located in our Aljoya Mercer Island Community, Mercer Island, WA. Available shifts will be scheduled Friday - Tuesday, 11:30AM to 8:00PM.

Applicants must be 21 years or older to meet the legal requirements for Alcohol Server Certification.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Senior Lead Food Server is responsible for all aspects of daily operations of the Dining Room to ensure the highest quality of service to residents and their guests.

• Develops staff schedules, ensuring adequate staffing for all shifts; works with Department Supervisor to ensure consideration of budget and quality of service for all meals and special events
• Expedite dinner operations for the dining room by supporting staff with serving, hosting, bussing and dishwashing duties
• Assists Department Supervisor with training of staff
• Prepares, revises and informs servers of their assigned sections
• Supervises the Dining Room staff during meal service to ensure the highest quality of service
• Supports Lead and servers with any immediate resident or staff needs during dinner and performs assigned designated pre-meal and post-meal duties
• Works with Food Services Department Supervisor for budget and purchasing small wares, office supplies, uniforms

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be 21+ years old;
• Possess basic knowledge and ability to perform Lead food server functions in a health care setting; basic math skills
• Ability to ensure and oversee that dining room is ready for meal service
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to implement directions
• Ability to use excellent time management skills; ability to meet strict deadlines
• Ability to use good interpersonal skills when interacting with residents, family members, visitors and co-workers
• Ability to work variable hours and days to meet the scheduling needs of dining room
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to pass DSHS background check, required

Education and Experience:

• High school graduation or GED equivalent
• Must have 1-2 years’ experience in restaurant or assisted living food service or experience working as a Lead Food Server with Era Living
• Previous supervisory experience, preferred
• Required: First Aid and CPR certified or able to obtain within 30 days of hire; Food Handler’s Certificate or able to obtain within 14 days of hire; Alcohol Serving Certification or able to obtain within 14 days of hire
