Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to establish and grow its Denver office. You will lead the electrical design for industrial and life sciences facilities, coordinating with process and mechanical teams to deliver complete designs from basis of design through construction.

You will hire and mentor engineers as the office expands, serving as the local client contact and coordinating with other firm offices to staff projects. This is an on-site role based in Denver, CO.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (Electrical) with Colorado registration or ability to obtain it.
• Experience leading electrical design for industrial, semiconductor, life sciences or process-driven facilities.
• Desire to learn and grow into the new role.

Responsibilities

• Build the Denver office and establish the electrical practice.
• Serve as local point of contact for regional clients and staff.
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers and designers as the office grows.
• Staff and deliver projects with collaboration across firm offices.
• Design electrical power distribution for industrial/critical facilities, including LV/MV distribution, motor controls, lighting, standby generation, and fire alarm.
• Lead short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies; review and seal drawings as Engineer of Record.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, and controls engineers on integrated facility designs.

About our client

Our client is a growing, employee-owned engineering firm expanding into the Denver market, and they are looking for a senior electrical engineer to build the new office around. The firm designs electrical, mechanical, process, and control systems for semiconductor fabs, life sciences plants, research labs, and industrial manufacturing facilities. Their electrical work runs from site-wide medium-voltage upgrades through motor controls, lighting, fire alarm, and on-site generation, along with short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.

The role

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be the firm's first engineer in Denver, establish its electrical practice in the market, and grow into leading the office. The firm develops its leaders from within, so the person who opens the office is the one expected to run it as it grows.

The position is based in the Denver, CO area.

What you would be doing

Building the office

• Serve as the firm's local point of contact for clients in the region
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers and designers as the office grows
• Work with the firm's other offices to staff and deliver projects

Engineering and project delivery

• Design power distribution for industrial and critical facilities, including low- and medium-voltage distribution, motor controls, lighting and lighting control, standby generation, and fire alarm
• Perform and review short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
• Lead electrical design from basis of design through construction documents, construction administration, and startup
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, and controls engineers on integrated facility designs
• Review and seal drawings and calculations as Engineer of Record
