A leading consulting firm is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator to oversee cost estimating efforts for various construction projects. The role requires extensive experience in cost planning and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related fields. We are seeking a Senior Cost Estimator to lead and support cost estimating efforts across a range of complex civil, structural, architectural, MEP and other building trades for vertical and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate brings deep industry experience, exceptional analytical capabilities, and strong leadership in cost planning, estimating strategy, and project evaluation.
This is a critical role requiring proactive communication, attention to detail, and the ability to interface with clients, engineers, and internal teams to ensure cost estimate clarity, coordination, and well supported detail.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of detailed cost estimates by interpreting project plans, specifications, and technical documents.
Develop and oversee quantity take-offs, labor/material analysis, and pricing models for both small and large-scale projects.
Provide well-informed input on markups including escalation, market conditions, risks and contingencies.
Provide strategic input during project planning, design, and execution to align cost estimates with overall project goals and objectives.
Review and validate design documents for constructability, scope clarity, and cost impact.
Utilize RS Means and other industry-standard estimating tools to ensure accuracy and benchmarking.
Evaluate and prepare change order pricing and evaluation of construction claims for cost entitlement.
Conduct internal QA/QC reviews of estimates prepared by junior staff.
Mentor and train junior estimators and contribute to the development of cost estimating procedures and standards.
Support business development with cost input for proposals and competitive bids.
Position Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of relevant field and estimating experience on all disciplines of work defined above as well as working on similar projects.
Strong background in construction cost estimating, value engineering, and pricing analysis.
Experience with change orders, claims analysis, and project budgeting.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
Professional certification (e.g., Certified Cost Professional (CCP), PMP, PE) preferred.
Proficient with cost estimating software (e.g., RS Means, Sage Estimating, or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel.
Deep understanding of specification writing, measurement and payment structuring, and project scheduling concepts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to present cost data clearly to stakeholders.
