The Role

Provide technical direction in the creation, delivery, and integration of multiple and moderately complex software solutions. May translate business requirements into specific designs and/or participate in the design, evaluation, and selection of IT solutions for software for a specific business process. Establish current and future use of the practice, metrics, and methodologies to determine current and future solutions. Explore and evaluate new and approved technologies. Consult on the application of existing and new, approved technologies to develop solutions. Ensure the process of creation and delivery of design and solution in accordance with the architectural direction.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and architecture of distributed, fault-tolerant, and highly available systems

  • Optimize Java-based systems for concurrency, performance, and memory efficiency

  • Guide engineering teams in adopting best practices for system design, observability, and reliability

  • Either decommission or modernize the legacy application or AWS migration

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to define a long-term technology roadmap

  • Champion DevOps, CI/CD, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability best practices

  • Mentor engineers, conduct reviews, and drive technical excellence across teams

What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Java 8+ – Expert-level, with deep knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and performance tuning.

  • Spring Boot – Proven experience building enterprise-grade microservices.

  • Kafka (or equivalent) – Strong experience with event-driven architecture and stream processing.

  • Observability – Experience with OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Splunk or similar tools.

  • 5+ years of experience with AWS (ECS, RDS, ElastiCache/Redis, Lambda, API Gateway) – Hands-on deployment and optimization experience.

  • Terraform – Ability to design infrastructure-as-code for production systems.

  • 5+ Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, CI/CD pipelines, Kafka, SQL & NoSQL databases

  • Good understanding of OAuth 2.0, Azure Entra IAM

  • 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience

  • AWS certifications preferred (Solutions Architect Associate/Professional, DevOps Engineer)

  • Knowledge of networking protocols and security best practices

  • Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows server environment

  • 5+ years of professional experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current data.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.

$136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.

$142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
