Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Lead AI Engineer to architect and deliver AI-powered products. You will work with engineers, researchers, and product managers to deploy foundation models, inference pipelines, and guardrails at scale.

You will apply state-of-the-art optimization techniques to improve latency, throughput, and cost while shaping the long-term roadmap for Capital One's AI platform. This role offers collaboration across teams in a fast-changing banking tech landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/AI/EE/CE with 6+ years of AI/ML experience or Master's with 4+ years.
• At least 6 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala or Java.
• 7 years of experience deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience designing, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor an engineering team and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for complex AI concepts.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional engineers, researchers, PMs, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components (training, inference, guardrails, observability).
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech like AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch.
• Invent and apply state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques for performance, cost, latency, and throughput.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.
