Job summary

Firefly Aerospace in Texas is seeking a Launch Vehicle Mechanisms Engineer III to design, analyze, and qualify moving mechanical assemblies for launch vehicle programs. You will own mechanisms from concept to flight-readiness, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure integration with structures, avionics, and propulsion.

You will lead development, qualification, and acceptance testing, provide technical mentorship, and apply kinematics, tribology, and FEA to deliver reliable hardware

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience designing, analyzing, and qualifying mechanical mechanisms for aerospace or high-reliability systems.
• Strong understanding of kinematics, tribology, tolerance analysis, lubrication, and wear in aerospace environments.
• Experience with flight-critical mechanisms such as separation systems, deployment mechanisms, actuators, latches, hinges, springs, and release devices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and produce moving mechanical assemblies that meet mission requirements.
• Create and manage hardware definition through CAD and drawings.
• Lead and perform detailed analyses (strength, stiffness, fatigue, wear, dynamics) and drive testing to qualification and acceptance.
