Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Chemical / Process Engineer for Launch Fluid Systems in San Francisco. You will own models, controllers and automation that fuel, pressurise and launch the vehicle, with a focus on cryogenic and two-phase fluid dynamics.

The role requires 5+ years of modelling physical systems, expertise in MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape, and an advanced degree in chemical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering or physics.

Qualifications

• 5+ years modelling and controlling physical systems
• Fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, process control and PID loop design
• Dynamic simulation experience. MATLAB, Simulink and Simscape expected; Aspen HYSYS/gPROMS welcome
• Advanced degree in relevant engineering or physics

Responsibilities

• Model cryogenic and fluid systems, including propellant loading, tank pressurisation and two phase flow
• Size volumes with the hardware team
• Design control loops and countdown automation sequences
• Build test automation in simulation, hardware in the loop and CI/CD
• Support live countdown from mission control
