Job summary

Rocket Lab in California is seeking a Principal Stage Fluids Engineer to own design, build, test, and review of fluid systems across the Neutron launch vehicle. You will design plumbing, analyze in harsh launch environments, model system behavior, test and qualify components, and collaborate with propulsion, structures, and flight software teams to enable reusable, reliable flight operations.

Base pay range CA: $162,000—$243,000 USD with comprehensive benefits and stock options.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience in a hardware rich environment.
  • Experience with fluid components design and usage for valves, pressure vessels, flex elements & fittings.
  • Experience with DfM/DfAM, machining processes, and welding processes with GD&T.

Responsibilities

  • Design plumbing systems, components and secondary structures and review peers’ designs.
  • Analyze systems in harsh launch environments and review critical structural analyses.
  • Model systems to predict behavior under all conditions and improve modelling efficacy.
  • Test and qualify systems, components, and modules for flight readiness.
  • Manage requirements, realization and implementation within the launch vehicle context.
  • Integrate hardware into the vehicle and correlate test data to design decisions.
  • Collaborate with propulsion, structures, mechanical, operations, and flight software teams.
  • Create tools to enhance analysis capabilities and streamline launch operations.
