Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled Fluids/Mechanical GSE engineer to design, build, and validate complex fluid systems for a growing portfolio of launch sites, including Vandenberg, Wallops, Cape Canaveral, and Esrange. You will lead design reviews, coordinate with engineers and site personnel, and drive standardized processes across sites.

You will own cradle-to-grave systems for cryogenic propellants, high-pressure gases, and ground support equipment, with travel up to 25% to test

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years hands-on experience with mechanical, propulsion, fluid, or ground support systems.
  • Experience designing, building, troubleshooting and/or operating complex fluid systems.
  • Experience interpreting and designing P&IDs.
  • Familiar with hazard analysis tools (FMEA, FMECA, FHA, HAZOP).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and activate fluid systems across a global launch portfolio.
  • Lead design reviews and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commission ground systems and lead pad operations.
  • Troubleshoot issues and support anomaly investigations.
  • Write procedures and automation for launch operations.
  • Develop maintenance strategies to maximize system availability.
  • Lead development of processes, guidelines, and training.
  • Collaborate with customers and regulatory teams for compliance.
