Lightmatter, Inc. is seeking a Staff/Sr Staff Laser Module & Systems Characterization Engineer in Mountain View, CA.

You will own bring-up, characterization, and validation of laser modules and photonic systems from first-light through manufacturing hand-off, partnering with controls, photonics, and production teams. You will develop test plans, write automation scripts, and generate thorough characterization reports, enabling scalable production and reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Hands-on characterization of laser modules in NPI/research environments.
• Experience with DWDM optical link bring-up and validation is a plus.
• Proficiency with lab equipment and data-driven analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead optical performance optimization and bring-up for Guide Laser modules.
• Develop and own bring-up to eVT hand-off package with criteria and data.
• Own campaigns for optical links including end-to-end validation and margin verification.
• Create test plans aligned to photonics-control specs; collaborate for production deployment.
• Write automation scripts for optical, electrical, and thermal tests; surface yield trends.
• Produce characterization reports and present findings to stakeholders.
• Support laser-safety interlock validation and controller characterization flows.
• Coordinate with production on test plan deployment and NPI transitions.
