Job summary

PMA Companies is seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to underwrite new and renewal business across targeted industries. You will analyze risk quality, price complex risks, and work with brokers to grow a profitable book of business.

You will develop agency plans, provide technical guidance, and collaborate with risk control and claims teams. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, CPCU is preferred, with 3–5 years in Commercial Lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required for Commercial Lines underwriting.
• CPCU designation preferred to demonstrate underwriting expertise.
• Experience underwriting commercial accounts with strong negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal commercial lines business including risk selection and pricing.
• Develop broker relationships and coordinate service team efforts to grow profitability.
• Monitor underwriting rules and provide guidance within authority on complex cases.
• Travel within the Southwest market as needed to meet clients and agents.
• Provide technical guidance and contribute to agency management strategies.
