Job summary

Archipro Staff Agency is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to lead landscape design and land planning projects in the Greater Washington, DC area. You will work closely with the Principal Landscape Architect to develop concept plans, manage schedules and coordinate with clients and consultants.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of hands-on landscape architecture experience, PLA/RLA licensure, and strong skills in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SketchUp, and GIS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.
  • Professional Landscape Architect License (PLA/RLA).
  • 8+ years of professional landscape architecture and land planning experience.
  • Strong experience in site development and land planning projects.
  • Proven ability to develop conceptual designs, manage projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent graphics, communication and client relationship skills.
  • Strong knowledge of zoning, permitting, and municipal review processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the planning and design of residential, mixed-use, commercial and institutional projects.
  • Develop and oversee concept plans, site planning, landscape and planting plans, hardscape design, rendering, and construction documentation.
  • Manage projects from concept through construction administration; coordinate schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies; participate in meetings and presentations.
  • Mentor junior staff and support the Principal Landscape Architect to maintain design quality.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture
Professional Landscape Architect License (PLA/RLA)
8+ years of professional landscape architecture and land planning experience

Senior Landscape Architect

Location: Burtonsville, Maryland (Greater Washington, DC Metro Area)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Principal Landscape Architect

As the firm continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Senior Landscape Architect to join their team and help deliver high-quality landscape architecture and land planning projects throughout the region.

Position Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and experienced Landscape Architect who enjoys both design and project leadership. Working closely with the Principal Landscape Architect, the successful candidate will be responsible for concept development, project management, client coordination, and the production of landscape architecture and land planning projects from initial vision through construction.

The ideal candidate is passionate about creating thoughtful, functional, and visually compelling environments while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to bring projects to life.

While this position is not initially a management or principal-level role, the firm values long-term growth and offers opportunities for increased responsibility and leadership as the practice continues to expand.

What You’ll Do
Landscape Architecture & Design

Lead and contribute to the planning and design of:

  • Residential and mixed-use developments
  • Commercial and institutional projects
  • Parks and recreation facilities
  • Streetscapes and public realm improvements
  • Community amenity spaces
  • Master-planned communities

Develop and oversee:

  • Concept plans
  • Site planning and land planning layouts
  • Landscape plans
  • Planting plans
  • Hardscape design
  • Rendering and presentation materials
  • Construction documentation
Project Management
  • Manage projects from concept through construction administration.
  • Coordinate schedules, budgets, and project deliverables.
  • Ensure quality control and technical accuracy of project documents.
  • Work directly with clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in project meetings and presentations.
Client & Agency Coordination
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Lead entitlement, permitting, and approval processes.
  • Coordinate with municipalities, review agencies, and planning departments.
  • Present design concepts and project recommendations when needed.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration

Work closely with:

  • Civil Engineers
  • Surveyors
  • Land Planners
  • Environmental Professionals
  • Architects
  • Development Teams

to deliver integrated site development solutions.

Mentorship & Team Support
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior landscape architects and designers.
  • Support the Principal Landscape Architect in maintaining design quality and project excellence.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and positive team environment.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.
  • Professional Landscape Architect License (PLA/RLA).
  • 8+ years of professional landscape architecture and Land Planning experience.
  • Strong experience in site development and land planning projects.
  • Proven ability to Develop Conceptual Designs, manage projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent Graphics, communication and client relationship skills.
  • Strong knowledge of zoning, permitting, and municipal review processes.
Preferred
  • Experience throughout Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management and green infrastructure.
  • Experience presenting projects to clients, municipalities, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience working on both public and private development projects.
