Qualifications

Hiring Salary Range: $43,348.00 - $52,017.00

Work Hours/Days: Monday - Friday / 6:30 am to 3:00 pm (may include some weekend work on a rotation schedule)

The role involves maintaining and enhancing lawns, beds, and landscaped areas in City-owned Cemeteries, preparing grave sites for burials, and performing semi-skilled and skilled labor. Responsibilities include operating light-duty equipment and power tools, applying seed, fertilizer, water, and herbicides, installing plants, and other landscape maintenance tasks. During winter, duties expand to snow and ice removal, tree planting, mulching, turf improvement, pruning, and litter collection. Weekend work is rotated among staff.

• Perform mowing operations, including equipment deployment and adhering to safety protocols, operating various mowers and tools, and managing salt spreaders.
• Provide customer service by responding to questions and concerns, and staying informed on policies and procedures.
• Prepare grave sites for burial services.
• Support general grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, grave maintenance, and brush removal.
• Participate in a rotating weekend work schedule.
• Work effectively in a team with a sense of urgency.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of experience in landscaping, agriculture, or horticulture maintenance.
• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
• Critical to emergency operations; must report to work during emergencies or disasters.
