Job Summary
The Virology/Serology Section Senior Technician is responsible for acting as lead technician with a working knowledge and ongoing competency of all assays performed in the section, with a strong emphasis on virology tissue culture, IFA assays, ELISA, and Virus neutralization (VN) assays. This position will serve as the lead technician in the section, supporting and coordinating daily workflows and acting as a point of contact for Virology technicians and student lab assistants in the absence of the laboratory supervisor. The Senior Technician will also be instrumental in training new staff and students, initiating new test development and optimization, and ensuring adherence to laboratory protocols.

This position will serve as the lead technician in the section, supporting and coordinating daily workflows and acting as a point of contact for Virology technicians and student lab assistants in the absence of the laboratory supervisor. The Senior Technician will also be instrumental in training new staff and students, initiating new test development and optimization, and ensuring adherence to laboratory protocols.
Primary responsibilities include test development, overseeing virology diagnostic testing, ensuring quality control and consistency across all testing platforms, collaborating with the laboratory supervisor on training, troubleshooting, and test improvement initiatives, and supporting additional activities in the sections as workload requires.

The ADDL is a full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratory that serves the state of Indiana by providing both routine and regulatory diagnostic services to support Indiana veterinarians, animal health officials, livestock producers and animal owners.
