Qualifications

• Approximately 15 years or more of relevant Science & Technology experience, including substantial responsibility for laboratory programming and planning.
• Strong portfolio of research, science and technology facilities.
• Experience leading several laboratory types, including R&D, biotech/pharma and academic environments.
• Practical understanding of scientific workflows and how they influence space, equipment and utilities.
• Strong client-facilitation and presentation skills for multi-stakeholder environments.
• Ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams and integrate specialist consultants.
• Experience delivering laboratory projects through planning, design, construction docs and administration.
• Knowledge of building codes, life-safety, lab regulations, cost control; commitment to sustainable, integrated design.

Responsibilities

• Lead programming and master planning of pharmaceutical, biotech, academic-research and emerging-technology facilities.
• Facilitate user-group meetings with researchers, department heads and facilities stakeholders.
• Translate workflows and equipment needs into clear planning and design solutions.
• Develop laboratory programmes, blocking studies, layouts, room data sheets and equipment plans.
• Lead fit-out planning and integration with mechanical, electrical, plumbing and specialist systems.
• Assess utility requirements and coordinate with engineering teams for functionality and resilience.
• Manage laboratory equipment schedules from planning through installation.
• Establish project scope, deliverables, budgets and milestones with project leadership.
• Produce drawings, specifications, reports and presentations communicating planning concepts.
• Mentor laboratory planners, architects and designers; contribute to standards.
• Represent the practice in industry events and pursuits; support business development.
