The specialist provides advanced technical expertise for animal studies, designs experiments, analyzes data, and trains staff and students in laboratory techniques.

Work follows animal welfare regulations (AAALAC, IACUC, USDA, FDA) and institutional policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology or related field; knowledge of animal science.
• Three years of experience with animals in a research setting preferred.
• Additional related experience or education may substitute for requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and perform independent research studies with advanced techniques.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data; prepare reports and manuscripts.
• Train staff and students in laboratory methods and safety.
• Maintain animal welfare compliance per AAALAC/IACUC/USDA and FDA rules.
• Monitor equipment, budgets, and supply needs; ensure quality control.
• Contribute to publications and grant proposals; present findings.
• Collaborate with veterinarians and researchers to achieve goals.
